no//thing but noise explores the idea of noise within the context of technology. the project manifested itself in a one-day live event that was held at neverlands, a diy-run space in brooklyn, new york on april 30th, 2016.
sound poet ian hatcher inherently brings noise into his work through his use of altered voice as a technological identity, one that walks the thin line between the artificial and the real. sound artist c. spencer yeh has worked extensively with the voice, using it as a tool through deconstruction and silence. the performance duo blanko & noiry use live performance to create a space in which noise is present and ultimately serves as a material. copán, the most musically inclined of the artists, use pedals, computers and instruments to produce unusual patterns in music. both blanko & noiry and copán work through performance, which becomes a major part of how their music resonates with an audience, both visually and sonically while hatcher and yeh utilize the oldest instrument in the world to create a new space in which the voice becomes something of an other.
